Living on the Other Side
Dear Reader,
Three years ago, I lost my life when my husband died. The deepest despair is devastating when learning to let go of the ‘we’ and move to a ‘me,’ only to realize that it’s only a ‘we.’ Being married to my knight for 27 years and being his partner for 31 years was a life that people dream about. It wasn’t perfect, and on many days, we wanted to kill each other. Deep committed love is about a life committed to the we, and forgoing the me. I want to share my love story, its beauty and pain, and how living on the other side is the hardest battle I’ve ever had to fight. People who I thought would never leave did, and I found love in places that I never expected. What I know is that God is the anchor of my journey, and He is always on my side, sending me angels and love from unexpected places. This is my journey to myself in the midst of grief, pain, and self-discovery.
In the beginning, there was a lost girl, whom we will call Christine, with wild red hair and beautiful green eyes. She was magnetic and insecure all at the same time. At 21, she was on the heels of an abusive marriage, left with her perfect son. Her parents abandoned her, but God stepped in and sent her an Angel with a Yankee Hat. Anthony DeMarsico, a full-bred Italian with strong values, a supportive family, and an attitude for no bullshit.. He fell in Love with Christine and her son, and furiously protected and loved them until he died on January 23, 2023.
